Online Shopping
With most Malaysians being forced to stay at home for months during the recent pandemic, online shopping became even more popular than ever before. Thanks to e-commerce shopping platforms offering incredibly low prices on anything and everything with free shipping options, we were hooked.
Some Telcowinners admit having ordered more than five items a day every day throughout the multiple nationwide lockdowns. In the latest episode of Telcowin Tech Talk, we spoke to Siti and Vincent, two Telcowinners who enjoy shopping online for various things.
While Vincent’s online shopping habits are pretty much the same with the rest of us (shoes and home items from e-commerce shopping platforms), Siti’s experience is a little different. As a K-pop fan, Siti indulges in collecting photo cards.
If you are new to the K-pop world, here are the basics. A few years ago, it was common for fans to receive photo cards from purchasing their favourite K-pop bands’ albums. Each album contains a different photo card and fans only find out what photo card they have received upon unboxing the album. This led to fans trading photo cards with other fans. Due to the constant high demand, the incredible value of these photo cards became clear, leading fans to sell them instead.
According to Siti, the most expensive photo card she had ever come across online had a price tag of RM30,000! This opened the discussion to online shopping via social media platforms like Tik Tok and even Telegram.
