Lawyers on Social Media

The latest Telcowin Tech Talk episode had us speaking to two lawyers, one of them is Telcowin’s own in house Legal Counsel, Nadia Zaini. The topic of discussion involved the mushrooming of lawyers on social media.

While both Nadia and Hazwa are on social media themselves, they do not use them for any work related matters. In fact both are on private mode on their respective accounts and often read others’ input without engaging. In other words, both ladies use social media primarily for entertainment.

If previously they used to collect followers on several platforms, both have since changed their direction once they entered adulthood.

Among the questions posed was if it was ethical for lawyers to share legal advice on social media. Hazwa thinks it is beneficial for the social media community to gain insights in legal matters especially when the advice comes from the professionals themselves. In fact, she thinks that laymen stand to gain a lot on platforms where they are able to ask important questions.

This Telcowin Tech Talk episode has a lot of valuable information for those interested to learn about what is and isn’t ethical for lawyers to share on social media. You can catch it at podcasts.telcowin.com
