Even though social media is a relatively young technology, it has been successfully adopted by both young an old the world over. Observing the evolution of social media reveals big changes over short periods of time. For instance, certain sensitivities today did not exist in just five years ago.
Where users used to be able to express opinions before, these days they could be targeted by other opinionated users who disagree. Non issues can blow out of proportion.
On the other hand, information dissemination is a lot faster in recent years as more and more people use social media. That said, with the recent pandemic, misinformation also spread at an alarming pace.
